Impact of Covid-19 Vaccination on Health Metrics Collected by my Galaxy Watch 3
Recently I got 3rd vaccination against coronavirus.
The timetable is:
- 2th of Jul 2021 — first vaccination
- 6th of August 2021 — second vaccination
- 27 of January 2022 — third vaccination
I noticed no symptoms of the vaccinations. OK, probably, I felt a bit tired. But, nothing significant — a bad-sleep night would get more significant results.
This made me wonder if I can find any signs of the impact in my health metrics. Probably, I did not notice the impact, but the numbers did.
I have a galaxy watch 3. It collects different health metrics of my body in 23/7 mode (23 instead of 24, because I must charge my watch every single day). Two metrics that are usually impacted when the body is “under the pressure” are:
- stress level (which is calculated based on heart rate variability)
- resting heart rate (boring wikipedia definition, “Increase in resting heart rate is a signal worth watching” by Harvard Medical School)
One can find mentioned data in the Samsung Health app. The app keeps everything and navigation though the history is simple. However, Samsung Health is not that useful for comparing the data. At least not in this case (comparing activity level change over time is an easy-to-do task, I wrote about this in article “How many times I walked though the Europe with my Samsung Watches?”).
Luckily, for my goal, I do not need a math-level analysis. So, I simply took a few screenshots and compare them on my computer.
Here they are.
Days I got vaccination are marked with the red arrows. The screenshots show a rather usual stress level during the next day after the vaccination (bottom part of the screens). The average stress level for several days after the vaccination is also boring regular.
The next set of screenshots shows my resting HR level a few days before and a few days after my vaccinations.
Here I also marked vaccination days with the red arrows. Again, no unusual “spikes”.
The data collected by my galaxy watch 3 and Samsung Health confirms my own impression — vaccinations did not have any noticeable impact on my body.
That’s it. Stay healthy!
If you use galaxy watch and felt strong post-vaccination synonyms — please share data from your watch — would be very interesting to compare.
