Samsung Global Steps Challenges
Samsung health allows people to organize and participate in different step challenges. You do not need to own a watch for that even, but a watch catches steps which a phone cannot (until you always have it in your pocket).
Samsung itself offers a global challenges every single month and few special global challenges on top of that.
This is great idea and funny view to the steps counting.
As usual, Samsung Health also opens collected statistic back to the people.
However, I have a feeling that global challenges have some space for improvement. After the first year, you notice that maps and “stars” for every single year are identical and special challenges are not that special. This becomes a bit boring. At least for me.
This makes me wonder if I’m the only person who feels like that or not. Samsung sells a lot of phones and recent galaxy watch series are definitely a success.
And what about global challenge participation? Does it grow? I just took this information from the Samsung Health app and put it to a chart:
As you can see number or participants declines over time. There could be different reasons for that. I can name few candidates:
- Covid-19 and all related events.
I tried to keep my fitness goals during work-from-home and and-covid restrictions time (see “How many times I walked though the Europe with my Samsung Watches?”), but some people did not. - originally global challenge had a chat, which was removed later. Some could misses it.
- Probably, Samsung started better block cheaters and bots from the challenge.
- individual and small team challenges were introduced — some people could find them more attractive than global challenges.
All that could be reasons for the decline. But I think the repetitiveness and a bit boredom of global challenges are noticeable reasons as well.
Dear Samsung, if you read this — please make global challenges more interesting and unique!
